A brief history of the
Prehistoric Scenes.
In 1971 Aurora Corp brought out a series of eight
Prehistoric scenes. They were an instant success.

In 1972 a further six scenes were introduced, equally
successfully.

Finally in 1974 Aurora brought out three more kits, which
proved as popular as the previous fourteen.

In addition to these kits a Stegosaurus got as far as the
pre-mould stage (where a metal pattern was made), this
was in production around 1973.

Around 1978 Aurora was bought up by Monogram, who
re-released eight (Ankylosaurus, Allosaurus, Dimetrodon,
Pteranodon, Styracosaurus, Triceratops and
Tyrannosaurus & Woolly Mammoth) of the kits (1979 &
1983), but destroyed the moulds for the other nine (the
decision was based on whether the moulds would be
used within the next five to ten years), recycling the mould
material and preventing other companies competing(??).

Finally Monogram Merged with Revell, and the eight kits
were again released (1987 & 1993).

Revell issued a new set of dinosaurs as the MiniDinos in
1994, each a faithful (1 inch high)  reproduction of the
large 1/13 model it was derived from. There were six of
these in all (Allosaurus, Dimetrodon, Pteranodon,
Styracosaurus, Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus).
