WOOLLY MAMMOTH 100,000 YEARS AGO LATE PLEISTOCENE TIME EUROPE AND NORTH AMERICA |
| The Mammoth sales figures 91,000 in 1973 |
| WOOLLY MAMMOTH This is one of the three kits central to assembling the whole prehistoric scenes diorama, along with the Cave and Tar Pit. Issued in 1972 this is one of the largest kits and really impressive. It has movable head, legs and trunk, and is one of the few two coloured kits (the Mammoth is brown with white tusks, the base is white). The Allosaurus (green Allosaurus with a yellow base), Jungle Swamp and Tyrannosaurus being the others: Later reissues of other kits were sometimes two coloured. The reissues of this kit didn't come with a base, but a resin reproduction is readily available, allowing you to get a new model to build and paint at a fraction of the cost of the original. |
